Hose Selection Considerations
Selecting a hose for your production process is an often overlooked, yet critical decision. When trying to determine the best possible hose type, it is always best to err on the side of caution - as safety considerations far outweigh any relatively small differences in the cost of the hose.If the hose is going to be in-service for an extended period, operating and actual pressures should yield significant safety margins. If the system will experience abrupt pressure spikes (e.g. valves closing/opening) then hoses rated for higher pressure should be selected to accommodate for this condition. In terms of longevity, thermal cycling (SIP) is important to consider, as is chemical cleaning (CIP). The chemistry of the fluid media itself can adversely affect the life of the hose as well.
Routine inspection should be performed on all hoses, especially where the hose meets the fitting - as this is a likely location for failure. Clean and store hoses properly to prevent further degradation and kinking, specifically for steel reinforced hose.
These are general recommendations, PAW BioScience & Trelleborg do not assume any liability whatsoever arriving from the use or mis-use of hose products. The user assumes all risks and responsibility.
